Traverse Documents
A traverse file uses a TR1 file extension:
When you open or save a traverse in the Survey/Map module you do not need to enter the file extension (the extension .tr1 is automatically added).
For information about reading and writing previous versions of the software, see the section title Compatibility with Previous Versions.
A Traverse Document contains traverse field notes (including side shots).  When a Traverse Document is created or opened, a customized survey spreadsheet form appears. This form is called the Traverse Window and is divided into a series of columns such as Azimuth, Slope etc. The columns in the Traverse Window can be customized.
Each survey shot corresponds to 2 rows in the Traverse Window. The first row ("At Station Data") consists of data which occurs at the station point e.g. Station identifier or Ground Type. The second row ("In Between Data") contains data which occurs in between the stations e.g. slope or distance.
The sequence of moving between fields can be user controlled by using Edit-Traverse Entry Options. To move to the next field press the <TAB> or <ENTER> keys. Movement in the traverse screen may be done either with the mouse or the keyboard.
Stations (accumulated horizontal distance) are calculated automatically.
Coordinates (northing, easting and elevation) are calculated automatically from the raw survey information. It is possible to adjust the underlying coordinates to move or close a traverse. In this case the raw survey information is unchanged. See Traverse Coordinate Adjustments for more information on coordinates.
It is possible to open several Traverse Windows at the same time using the Multiple Document Interface.
