The Survey/Map module provides two methods for entering side shots: Radial Side Shots and Perpendicular Side Shots.
Radial Side Shots
Radial shots are single shots taken from a station. They can be in any direction. Multiple radial shots from a station are permitted.
Figure 1. Radial Side Shots
To enter a radial shot:
1) Type RS in the Type column (you may also double click in the Type column and select RS- Radial Shot using the mouse).
2) Enter the azimuth, distance and slope % for the shot in the appropriate columns (these fields depend on how you have setup your Survey Windows - see Customizing the Traverse Window for more information) . You will notice that the Station does not change at the end of the radial side shot.
Perpendicular side shots are used to calculate cross sections in the Location Module.
Perpendicular side shots are assumed to be taken at the bisector angle between the fore-shot and the back tangent.
Figure 2. Perpendicular Side Shots
For Multiple perpendicular Side shots: distances and angles are measured from the main traverse (Non Turning Point) or from one or more turning points (setup positions). It is possible to have a mixture of these turning and non turning points on a single cross section.
