Switching between tools can be done by selecting Home | Tool Selection, by using the Mode Toolbar, or by right-clicking in an active window, and choosing an option in the Context menu..

The cursor will appear like this when you are in Selection Mode.
When you move the cursor over an IP, it will appear like this:
