You can create a new point at the end of the L-line or insert a point in between existing points. The technique is the same for both operations.
To create a new L-line point:
1. Activate the window in which you want to work (Plan or Profile). When the window is activated, it will be on top of other windows and its title bar will be highlighted.
2. If you are already in Enter L-line points mode your cursor will appear as a pencil and you can skip step 3.
3. Select Home | Tool Selection | Add/Edit IP Tool menu or click on the Add/Edit IP button on the Mode Toolbar. You are now ready to begin entering L-line points.
4. Move the mouse cursor near the place you want the new point (either in between existing points or at the end of the alignment). Click (press and release) the left mouse button; a new point will appear. The new point will be attached to the mouse (the point is captured) and it will move where the mouse goes with a "rubber band" line drawn to the previous point (and next point in the case of an insertion).
5. Move the point to the desired final location (while watching critical feedback, i.e. grade) then click the left mouse again to anchor the point.
NOTE: You can press the <ESC> or <DEL> keys while in capture mode. This will replace or remove the captured point.
NOTE: If you click the right mouse (or type Shift-Enter) button while in capture mode, the cross section, data and status windows will be updated and you will still remain in capture mode.
