Background Display Properties dialog
This dialog allows you to control the display of a Terrain file in the Plan and Profile windows.  It is accessible from the Properties button on the Background Display Files dialog.
The following options are available:
Terrain File Path
Enter the Terrain file name (*.TER) or press the Browse button to activate the standard Windows File Open dialog to search for the file.
Note: This field is disabled if Locked is set or if the Terrain is the "Topo surface" (only in Location).  To change the topo surface in Location use menu Module | Setup | Alignment | Terrains.
Layout File Path
Enter an optional Layout file name (*.TLT). If no layout file name is entered the terrain will be displayed in the format it was last saved in. Press the Browse button to activate the standard Windows File Open dialog. Note this field is only required if you would like to display the Terrain file differently than the way it was last saved.
To select a Terrain for background display:
1) Enter the full path of the Terrain file (*.TER) or press the Browse button to select it using the standard Windows File Open dialog.
2) You can optionally enter a Layout file to control the display of the Terrain file. If no Layout file is entered the Terrain will be displayed as it was last saved.
3) Enter a Washout Factor for display. This factor will "fade" the display of the Terrain File.
4) Press OK twice. The Terrain file will be loaded and displayed in the Plan window
Description
Enter the background description.
Reference ID
Only used in Location. To see, use menu Module | Setup | Alignment | Terrains.
Locked
If checked, the background will also be saved when the current terrain is saved to another folder or device. You may be prompted to remove folder information from the selected file name. This option is disabled if the Terrain is the "Topo surface" in Location. Not available in the Survey/Map Module.
Plan Options
Override Colors
This option allows you to control the display of a Terrain file in the plan window. If Override Colors is selected, the color of the background features can be set by pressing the Plan Color button.
Plan Color
Activates the Linetypes and Symbols dialog allowing you to change the displayed color of all features in the background Terrain in the plan window.
Snapping
If checked, then point and line snapping will be done when points are created or edited.
Washout Factor (%)
The washout factor allows you to fade the Terrain file image so that it you can distinguish it from your primary map. A washout near 100% will be very faint.
Profile Display Options (only available in Terrain)
This function is only available if Profile Drafting and Design Function Group is enabled (see Function Groups in Terrain Help for more information).
The projection of the current feature on the background Terrain model(s) is displayed in the Profile Window if the following conditions are met.
a) The background Terrain has a Terrain model
b) The current selected feature is a draped feature.
c) Background is selected in View - Active Window (Profile) Options.
Profile Feature Format
Activates the Linetypes and Symbols dialog allowing you to change the display format of the projected feature. Note it is possible to set hatching, in this case the hatching is done from the feature above. The projection of the current feature on the current Terrain is assumed to be topography and the top down order of the sub surface stratum is defined by their order in the Background Display Files dialog.  (See Background Terrains in Terrain Help for more information.)
3D Window Display Options (only available in Terrain)
Override Colors
This option allows you to control the display of a Terrain file in the 3D window. If Override Colors is selected, the color of the background features can be set by pressing the 3D Window Color button.
3D Window Color
Activates the Linetypes and Symbols dialog allowing you to change the displayed color of all features in the background Terrain in the 3D window.
