Import GPS Device Options dialog
This dialog is accessible from the File | Import GPS Waypoints menu.  A search is performed before entering into this dialog to look for available GPS devices.
If successful,  a message will be displayed in the dialog indicating the search was successful.  E.g.  "Garmin found on COM2".
NOTE: This Dialog includes the Projection Transformation dialog and Rotate/Translate/Scale Dialog as additional tabs. The import of GPS data requires a current projection so that the incoming Latitude/Longitude can be converted.
GPS Device
Only Garmin receivers are supported. The GPS interface mode should be set to "GARMIN" (not NEMA or GARMIN DGPS).
Port
Choose the serial port that you have the receiver plugged into. This will be set by AutoDetect.
AutoDetect
Select this to scan the serial ports on your computer for a connected GPS device.  The port and device type will be set automatically if a receiver is found.
Use Defaults
This will apply the manufacturer specified communication parameters for the current device type:
Garmin = 9600 baud, no parity, 8 bit data size, 1 stop bit.
Change Settings
Available only when Use Defaults is not selected.  This allows you to modify the communication parameters such as Baud Rate, Parity, etc.  This is only necessary if you have modified the parameters on your device.  Normally leaving the Use Defaults selected will work for most situations.
See also Importing from a GPS Device for more information.
