Various forms of external data can be imported into the Terrain Module using menus File - Insert File and File - Open. The Import Setup dialog allows you to add or remove file formats from the "Files of Type" combo boxes in these menus. The following topics describe the available formats:
For some of the formats being imported, you are given the option of transforming the coordinates, either by shifting, scaling and rotating, or by geodetic transformation. The Rotate/Translate/Scale Dialog and the Projection Transformation dialog will appear as tabs on the Import Options tabbed dialog if coordinate transformations are available (and selected for display) for the option type you have selected.
Other formats (such as ASCII) allow data thinning and the Selection dialog can appear as a tab on the Import Options dialog.
