New Shot dialog
The New Shot dialog is accessed from menu item Station - Insert Shot and is only available when a Traverse document is open.
The New Shot dialog allows you to insert a shot in between existing shots or at append it to end of the traverse.  Several modes are available:  Bear-Dist, X-Y-Z, and X-Y-Slope.
Bear-Dist
This mode allows you to enter a shot as a bearing and distance (direction and offset).  The following fields are available:
Shot Type  - type of  shot. See Shot types for more information.
H.Angle  - horizontal angle in current azimuth format. See Traverse Entry options for more information.
Slope %  - vertical angle in current slope format. See Traverse Entry options for more information.
 Slope Dist  - slope distance.
 Comment  - comment.
X-Y-Z
This mode allows you to enter the end point (XYZ) of a shot. The point will be made absolute and the distance, slope and bearing is back-calculated accordingly. This entry mode is useful when working with GPS.
The following fields are available:
Shot Type  - type of  shot. See Shot types for more information.
 Easting X  - easting coordinate.
 Northing Y  - northing coordinate.
 Elevation Z  - elevation.
 Comment  - comment.
Notes:
- If a GPS device is connected, the Set from GPS button is enabled allowing the coordinate to be updated from the GPS.
- To use a GPS, the traverse coordinate system should be defined (see Edit | Traverse Options | Projection). - Cartesian coordinates (UTM, State Plane etc.) should be used, NOT Lat/Lon.
X-Y-Slope
This mode allows you to enter the end point (XY) of a shot and the slope. The point will be made absolute and the distance and bearing is back-calculated accordingly. This entry mode is useful when working with lower standard recreational grade GPS device where the elevation is not accurate.

The following fields are available:
Shot Type  - type of  shot. See Shot types for more information.
 Easting X  - easting coordinate.
 Northing Y  - northing coordinate.
 Elevation Z  - elevation.
