Units
Cable analysis deals with quantities such as tension, weight, length and deflection. The common units used for these quantities are not standard and are usually mixed up (i.e. pounds for load, meters for distance). The Cable Analysis software is flexible with units; it is possible to define the units used for different quantities independently.
The units of Station and Elevation in the profile window are project units , defined in the SOFTREE.INI file (usually meters or feet). These units are consistent with the Survey/Map and Location modules. Project units are also used for Skyline Length reports.
There are two force quantities that can be displayed with different units: tension and payload. Several dialog boxes allow you to change the default units for tension or payload (i.e. the Cable Analysis - Setup - Edit dialog or the Cable Analysis - Calculation Parameters dialog). For example, if you choose "lbs" while editing the cable working tensions the Tensions sub-window will then show "lbs" as will any tensions shown in the Cable Analysis Data window.
