  • 2.298. Volume Calculation Dialog
Volume/Surf. Properties Calculation dialog
This dialog allows you to begin calculation of volumes. It is accessed from the Edit - Terrain Modelling-Calculate Volumes / Surf. Properties menu. For more information on volume calculations see Volumes.
Calculation Surfaces
Volume between 2 surfaces
If this item is selected, volumes are calculated between 2 TIN surfaces (Surface A and Surface B).
Volume enclosed by a single surface.
If this item is selected, the volume above or below the surface is calculated.  A boundary feature (with property Surf/Vol Boundary) is automatically used to create the base surface ( Surface B).
This option is useful for calculating the volume of a stockpile. In this case, the toe of the pile is used to create the bottom surface.
Surface A
This surface is always the current Terrain.
Surface B
This surface must be entered if Volume between 2 surfaces is selected.  Type the full path name (eg. C:\datafiles\pit1.ter) or use the Browse button to locate the file with the standard Windows File Open dialog.
Surface Intersection
Calculate feature(s)
This option is only applicable if the two surfaces intersect. If this check box is enabled the intersection polyline between the two surfaces will be calculated and saved as a feature(s). The feature will have a prefix SSCT. By pressing the + button beside the checkbox allows you to set the format (linetype, color etc.) for the intersection feature.
Remove existing features
If this checkbox is selected, existing SSCT features will be removed.
Volume and Surface Properties Reporting
Volumes and surface properties by Polygon
If this check box is enabled, the quantities are calculated for each boundary (features with property Surf/Vol Boundary). These volumes are reported in the Volume Reporting dialog or in the Status Window when a volume boundary feature is selected.
If this option is selected, a TIN boundary feature is automatically created (with property Surf/Vol Boundary).
