Importing from a GPS Device
Importing Waypoints from a GPS Device
Direct Connection
Waypoints can be read into the Terrain module through a direct serial/usb connection with the GPS receiver using menu File - Import GPS Waypoints. The AutoDetect function in GPS Device Options dialog will recognize supported Garmin GPS connected to USB or Serial port.
Direct download of waypoints is only available for Garmin devices that support Garmin transfer protocol. Unsupported devices will need to use the File Transfer method (described below) to read waypoint files.
Routes and Tracks are not supported at this time.me.
Make sure the GPS device is set to "Garmin mode", and not "NMEA mode" in setup.
Garmin Serial Devicesces
Supported Garmin serial devices include:

If your computer doesn't have a serial connecter (RS232), it is possible to connect your GPS using a USB connection. To do this, you will require a Serial to USB adaptor cable. This generic cable is available from most computer retail stores and comes with a MS Windows driver. When this adaptor cable is attached, the GPS transfer will be available through an additional COM port (e.g. COM4).

File Transfer
Waypoints can also be imported into Terrain from an ASCII file using menu File - Insert File.
Support is provided for Magellan *.UPT files(see Importing Magellan GPS Data for more information). Other formats can be read by creating an ASCII import specification.
