This dialog allows you to preview a file using the current External Format Specification (EFS). If the fields aren't displaying the correct values, you can use the Structure tab to correct any mistakes prior to actually reading the file.
File
If a file is open for preview, the name of the file is shown at the top of the dialog box. The window below the file name shows an excerpt of the file contents; the highlighted line is the current record. Press the Next Record button to read another line from the file.
New Feature (edit box, read only)
This field will display YES if the point in the current record is the start of a new feature. Otherwise, It will display nothing.
Feature Name (edit box, read only)
Displays the value of the field defined by the Feature Name column you specified on the Structure tab. If you set the column to zero, nothing is displayed in this edit box.
Note that this value will not represent a real feature name unless the current record is the start of a New Feature.
Record #
This is the current line number.
X
X coordinate interpreted from the column position you specified on the Structure tab.
Y
Y coordinate interpreted from the column position you specified on the Structure tab.
Z
Z coordinate interpreted from the column position you specified on the Structure tab.
Code
Point code interpreted from the column position you specified on the Structure tab. This value will be used to differentiate records using the logic defined in the Codes tab.
Attribute
If you have any Attributes defined on the Structure tab, they will appear in the drop-down list box. Select each attribute to preview the values from the current record.
Open File
Select this button to open a file and read the first record.
Prev Record
This button moves to the previous record and highlights it. You can only review the previous 19 records.
Next Record
This button moves to the next record; a new line is read if neceessary. This option will be disabled if all records in the file have been read. To read the file again simply open it again.
